To reduce plant movement and multiple contractors working in the same area BCE have taken on the excavation, ducting installation, backfill and pile cropping operations at all the Gantry, CCTV, EAV, RADDAR and Large Sign Foundations. This has benefitted the programme and has given BCE better continuity of works as they are in control of the full structure following the piling operations.

BCE worked with the M1 permanent design team to introduce an additional mat of reinforcement to provided support for the various bolt sets.

The introduction of temporary supports ensures the bolts are safe and secure prior to fixing the top mat of reinforcement.
